Loretta graduated from nursing school in 1981 as a diploma nurse. Work experience includes: Cardiac Care, Doctor’s office nurse, ADON in a nursing home, DON in a nursing home, Neuro ICU, Sub for School Nurse, Home Care, and Hospice. She graduated with a BSN in 2010 and went on to her MSN (graduated in 2012). She has completed the Basic Parish Nursing course and worked as a Parish Nurse in her previous church. She now travels with her husband in their discipleship teaching and training ministry. She is an adjunct instructor at Olivet Nazarene University in their School of Graduate and Continuing Studies. She is certified as an instructor for Faith Community Nursing. She was ordained as a Deacon in the Church of the Nazarene in 2015. She has been married since 1986 to her sweetheart and they have two children (now four, since both are married) and have one grandson. She feels that health is an important aspect of discipleship, if the disciple is in ill health they are limited in what they can do for the Lord. She does health related presentations as they are traveling when the opportunity arises.

She received her BSN from Olivet Nazarene University and her MSN and PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She began her career in Medical-Surgical Nursing and then went to Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing practice. She has been teaching at Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing for 31 years and have taught many subjects, but her clinical specialty has remained in the Psychiatric/Mental Health area.
She has been Nazarene pretty much her whole life. Her family started attending actively when she was about 6 years old. Currently, she is the Director of Children’s Ministries, but has a passion for the older adults. She is also the church board secretary. Attending mostly smaller churches her whole life, she has served as song leader, missions director, Sunday School teacher, and other areas as needed.
Her Parish Nurse ministry is informal at this time. She meets with people individually, does education, and does hospital visitation.

I have been a nurse for 31 years. I spent my hospital career time in general and specialty Med-Surg units. I found that I really like patient education and interaction. I have worked as an Occupational Health Nurse, short term medical missions trip nurse, substitute school nurse, NCLEX tutor, University professor, and of course a Faith Community Nurse. I am currently in the role of Assistant Professor at Marian University in Indianapolis, IN.
Beyond nursing my husband and I have three children, the occasional exchange student, and lots and lots of animals. I am also a 4-H leader and superintendent for two projects, one of those is the Health project.
